NEW DELHI, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- India and Canada Friday inked six pacts, over sectors including sports, education and energy, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi held delegation-level talks with visiting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the capital.

Addressing a joint media meet, Modi said: "India and Canada can work together in every sector. We discussed many issues, including defense cooperation. Terrorism and extremism are a threat to countries like ours and to fight these elements, we should come together."

Hailing Canada as a energy superpower, the Indian Prime Minister said that it "can help us meet our growing demands for energy."

"India and Canada will deepen social and economic ties. Canada Pension Fund is a large investor in India. We look forward to allowing Canada to double its investments in India," the Indian Prime Minister added.

"We have the responsibility to set the right parameters to make the economy benefit everyone, and not just the rich. India-Canada partnership must create jobs," Trudeau said.

India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had tweeted that both the Prime Ministers "discussed strengthening cooperation in trade & investment, energy, education, healthcare, IT, start up, science & technology, defence and security, tourism and people-to-people contacts."

The Canadian Prime Minister arrived in India last Saturday on a week-long state visit.
